Hi, hello, howdy. Jonathan here. I'm a professional counselor associate registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists and am certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I live in Portland and offer therapy to adult individuals. I do not work with relationships, groups, or minors at this time.

I first sought counseling during a stressful period involving the near-simultaneous dissolution of my marriage and my business partnership. Though I initially resisted the idea of being in therapy, I eventually came to see it as a powerful gift. It now brings me great joy to offer this gift in turn.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University. I have worked with folks experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, behavioral and substance addictions, mood and personality disorders, and trauma in its many forms: acute and chronic, individual and systemic. I enjoy working with many different kinds of people and take a special clinical interest in working with men and creative types.

I'm a white, middle-aged, educated, currently able-bodied, cisgender man. Whether you hold all of these identities, some, or none of them, identity is always "in the room," and I believe it is essential for us to consider how our identities impact one another. Because I’m holding such an oversized slice of the privilege pie, I incorporate queer and feminist theory into my work to help balance how I take up space in the world and show up as a therapist. I am supervised by Dr. Deanna Cor and Dr. K Hixson, both of whom use these lenses.
