Philosophy and Approach: I specialize in helping clients locate and address obstacles to their self-understanding and emotional attunement. My role is to develop awareness of how these obstacles may impact clients’ relationships with themselves and others and to facilitate positive changes in thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I practice from a Gestalt framework, meaning I tend to be most interested in present-moment experience, interpersonal dynamics unfolding in real-time, and the how more than the why. I also integrate interventions from evidenced-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and ACT.
Education, Training, and Experience: I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University. Major coursework included counseling theories and skills, relationship counseling, addictions counseling, and mental health diagnosis. I attend ongoing training in Gestalt Therapy and have completed additional training in suicidology, LGBTQIA+ competencies, and trauma-informed treatment.
As an associate registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I abide by its Code of Ethics. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association, and abide by its Code of Ethics. I am supervised by Dr. K Hixson and Sarah Pattee, LMFT, which I will be happy to explain.
Fees: Sessions are 50 minutes in length and are billed at $140. Sliding scale options may be available by prior arrangement. Sessions for clients utilizing insurance are 55 minutes and billed at $200. This fee increase is reflective of the substantial labor required for documentation of medical necessity, service planning, and billing.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance of the session are subject to one-half of the normal fee.
